Rapper, singer, and songwriter Rod Wave has been teasing his fan army a brand new album for long, and it looks like their prayers have been finally answered as Wave is all set to drop his new studio effort called ‘SoulFly’. The young artist took to his Instagram to drop a fresh single, “Tombstone”, from his upcoming album, where he also revealed the release date of the full-length project.

The ‘Rags2Riches’ hitmaker was soon trending on Twitter as his fans erupted with joy after the singer shared the good news. Rod Wave is known for his fusion of R&B with hip-hop. He first shot to fame when his 2019 single ‘Heart on Ice’ went viral on YouTube and TikTok. Rod Wave’s album ‘SoulFly’ will hit the Internet on March 26, 2021, via Alamo Records. 

Concept

Rod Wave’s ‘SoulFly’ will be his third album and is a follow-up to his 2020 album ‘Pray 4 Love’ which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. Prior to that, Wave dropped ‘Ghetto Gospel’ in 2019 which peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard 200. Speaking of ‘SoulFly’, according to the website Genius, Wave first announced it in December 2020. Wave also had a short-lived beef with his label Alamo Records over payment. According to Uproxx, in a post to his Instagram story, he said, “P*ssy ass label playing wit a n**** sh*t I ain’t dropping sh*t f**k ya pay me. Y’all wanna album ask @alamorecords.” However, he apologized for the post later and revealed that everything was fine with his label. Before the release, ‘SoulFly’ has already topped this week’s Apple Music Pre-Add Chart, as reported by the Rolling Stone.

Lyrics

Before the album hits the Internet, The Florida rapper surprised his fans by releasing a single off his album called ‘Tombstone.’ The lyrics of the track go like, “I keep my gun in my drawers, ducking the sad news (Oh yeah)/ My phone say seven missed calls, I know it’s bad news/ This life had left me so scarred, I’m knowing that’s true, Remember times got so hard, I got it tattoed (So hard).” The song is accompanied by stunning visuals.

As soon as the news of Rod Wave revealing the release date of ‘SoulFly’hit the Internet, his fans stormed Twitter to express their happiness. One user stated, “Rod wave music hit different. Ready for the album fr.” Another fan seemed relieved and said, “FINALLY ILL BE RESTIN IN PEACE, FINALLLYYY, FINALLLLLYYYY”. Bro why is rod wave like this?” One added, “When Rod Wave album drop Friday, don’t talk to me. I’m crying.”
