76ers trade James Harden to Los Angeles Clippers: report 02:14

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Sixers’ James Harden finally has his wish — he’s being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, a team source tells CBS News Philadelphia, confirming reports from The Athletic and other outlets.

In return for Harden, the Sixers are getting Robert Covington, Nicolas Batum, KJ Martin, Marcus Morris Sr. and multiple draft picks, according to The Athletic. Philly is also sending P.J. Tucker and Filip Petrusev to Los Angeles.

The picks the Sixers will receive include a 2028 first-rounder, along with two second-round picks and a pick swap with LA. A third team is set to give the Sixers an additional first-round draft pick in the future, according to The Athletic.

Harden, 34, has not yet played this season.

CBS News Philadelphia’s Pat Gallen previously reported Harden opted into his $35.6 million contract in June for him and the Sixers to work on a trade out of Philadelphia.

When that trade hadn’t materialized by August, Harden publicly called Daryl Morey, the Sixers’ president of basketball operations, a “liar” at an event in China. Harden was later fined $100,000 for the incident.

Harden later said he had “lost trust” in the front office.

Harden is a 10-time All-Star and native of Lakewood, California. Now he’s headed home, where he wanted to go.

Earlier in October, Harden reported to Sixers training camp and practiced with the team, but later skipped several practices without an explanation.

Harden has yet to suit up for the Sixers in any of their first four games and was told to stay home before the team traveled to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks.

He was spotted in street clothes during the team’s home opener on Sunday, supporting his teammates from the bench.
