“Boys Planet,” the successor to “Girls Planet 999” (the show that produced girl group Kep1er) is currently airing—and there’s a lot of buzz! The survival-style program features trainees from both Korea and other nations around the globe all vying for the top nine spots to make the final debut lineup. The first two episodes are already out, but the competition is far from over. Here are some of the most surprising moments from the first round!

(There will be spoilers ahead, so those who aren’t caught up on the first two episodes, be warned!)

1. Sunmi’s Star Master appearance

Reacting to the broadcast version of the show’s initial episode, iconic K-pop artist Sunmi surprised the trainees with her appearance as a Star Master! The trainees were understandably shocked and amazed to see such a famous idol on the show, and Sunmi gave some great reactions while watching the performances. As one of the first Star Masters, Sunmi really set the stage for an amazing round of celebrity appearances!

2. Zhang Hao’s violin serenade

As aspiring K-pop idols, it’s expected that the trainees should be able to sing, rap, and dance. However, trainee Zhang Hao brought his own special musical talent—a violin! The other trainees were impressed by his playing, and even the judges gave a cheer (an iced coffee cheers, but still) to his skills. It definitely brought an unexpected change of pace to a tense day of auditions!

3. Sung Han Bin’s waacking dance with Lip J

Lip J, one of the show’s Dance Masters, is an industry legend with some serious skill to back it up. Her specialty is waacking, so when trainee Han Sung Bin claimed to have studied the dance style, she was eager to test his abilities! The result was an unforgettable performance, and Lip J was impressed. She’s a former “Street Woman Fighter” star, so it’s high praise!

4. Chen Kuan Jui’s classical Chinese dance performance

Chen Kuan Jui stunned everyone with his incredible Chinese classical dance performance. It’s a discipline that requires immaculate strength, flexibility, and grace, and Chen Kuan Jui is the best of the best. He has placed first in countless competitions, so it’s no wonder that he’s so amazing. Not quite the style of dance that you might expect from a K-pop trainee, but it’s all the more impressive!

5. “All-star” performance of NCT 127’s “Kick It”

In case you didn’t already know, there are two different trainee groups on the show—the G-Group, made up of global trainees, and the K-Group from Korea. Yuehua Entertainment’s G-Group performed an energetic rendition of NCT 127’s “Kick It,” but the entire room was shocked when it turned out that the same agency’s K-Group would be performing the same song! All members received the top all-star rating for this performance, which was impressive considering how sparing the judges have been with the all-stars.
