The last time the 49ers went to Seattle with a chance to clinch the NFC West, Dre Greenlaw made a game-winning tackle at the goal line, securing the No. 1 playoff seed in the process.
The Niners have a little more breathing room this time around: They could still clinch the division sometime over the three games following Thursday night. But it is a big spot nonetheless.
As of Wednesday afternoon, rookie quarterback Brock Purdy was listed as questionable to make his second career start after he suffered an oblique injury in his starting debut just three days prior, a rout over Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Purdy is active for the game Thursday evening.
His counterpart on the Seahawks will be Geno Smith, who has seized the starting job in Seattle after years as a backup.
The Seahawks will get a boost as rookie running back Kenneth Walker III is expected to return from an ankle injury.
Questionable alongside Purdy for the 49ers were DE Kerry Hyder (ankle) and CB Ambry Thomas (ankle); QB Jimmy Garoppolo (foot), WR Deebo Samuel (ankle/knee), DT Kevin Givens (knee), DT Hassan Ridgeway (pectoral), CB Samuel Womack (concussion) and S Tarvarius Moore (knee) are all out.
For Seattle, RB Deejay Dallas (ankle), DT Al Woods (Achilles), CB Tre Brown (illness), S Joey Blount (back) and S Ryan Neal (knee) were listed as questionable as of Wednesday.
