Howard could be matched up against Bourne on Sunday night, who caught two touchdown passes last week against the Eagles. Bourne is clearly Jones’ favorite target, having been thrown the ball 11 times last week.
Howard will have to clean up the penalties he had a week ago against the Chargers, especially if he’s guarding Bourne. Penalties committed in the secondary are the most devastating and momentum-shifting.
Locking down Bourne will force the Patriots to rely on shorter plays early on. If Miami can establish a lead, it’ll force Jones to force-feed Bourne later in the game.
