3 new COVID-19 cases in the London area Monday, no deaths

  • What’s the latest situation for the London area?

    There were three new COVID-19 cases reported by the Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) on Monday. It’s the lowest case count for the region since mid-November.

    There were no deaths reported Monday. The health unit reported 32 cases over the weekend, along with the death of a an in his 80s.

    There have been 123 total cases of COVID-19 and two deaths so far this month. The seven-day rolling average for daily cases is down to 17, the lowest since March 10.

    The MLHU says 27 people have recovered from the virus and there are now 108 active cases in the region.

    London Health Sciences Centre is treating 22 patients with COVID-19, including nine in critical care.

    There are fewer than five staff who have tested positive for the virus and are isolating.

    COVID-19 across the region and beyond

    Southwestern Public Health is reporting eight now COVID-19 cases Monday and no deaths. There are 30 ongoing cases in Elgin-Oxford.

    Huron Perth Public Health posted three new cases of the virus and no deaths. There are 31 active cases in the region.

    Meanwhile, Ontario is reporting 525 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 additional deaths Monday.

    The province is expected to move into the initial phases of its reopening plans three days ahead of schedule, starting Friday.

    Phase 1 allows for outdoor gatherings up to 10 people, patio dining with up to four people per table and non-essential retail to open at 15 per cent capacity.
