Police closed off roads in Times Square following a shooting that injured a woman and toddler, officials said.

Three people were hospitalized Saturday evening after a shooting in Times Square left the youngest victim, a 4-year-old girl, injured and started the NYPD on a manhunt for the gunman responsible.

A senior NYPD official with direct knowledge of the investigation confirmed to NBC New York that all three victims were unintended targets of the shooting, and a preliminary investigation suggests none of them are related.

The young girl was struck in the leg, a 24-year-old woman was hit in her thigh and a 44-year-old woman was shot in the foot, police said. All three victims were taken to nearby Bellevue Hospital and expected to survive.

Shots were fired after a dispute between a group of four men and one of them pulled out a gun, two law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation told NBC New York. Police officers were reportedly nearby when the shooting occurred and have a photo of the suspect.

The shooting occurred minutes before 5 p.m. near the corner of W 44th Street and 7th Avenue. People in the area were advised to expect delays as police cordoned off roads for their investigation.

Mayor Bill de Blasio reacted to the shooting on Twitter, stating he was glad the victims were in stable condition.

“The perpetrators of this senseless violence are being tracked down and the NYPD will bring them to justice,” he tweeted. “The flood of illegal guns into our city must stop.”

Police did not immediately release any description or photo of the suspect.
