Arsenal won the Florida Cup tonight after beating Chelsea 4-0, and William Saliba was one of the best players on the pitch.

The Gunners faced Thomas Tuchel’s side in what was supposed to be our toughest test in pre-season yet. However, Mikel Arteta’s men made it look really easy, and picked up a fantastic win.

Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a fantastic finish and Martin Odegaard doubled our lead just 20 minutes later. Bukayo Saka and Albert Sambi Lokonga took the score to four, but it was Saliba who really stood out.

Mikel Arteta started Saliba at the back tonight alongside Gabriel Magalhaes, and the two were rock solid.

The Frenchman, in particular, was outstanding. He did not put a single foot wrong throughout the game and looked incredibly comfortable against some of Chelsea’s biggest names.

Everybody who has watched Saliba over the last two years knows how calm he is in possession, but there were concerns about how he’d cope against a top-quality English side.

After his performance tonight, all those concerns can be put to bed. Saliba looked incredible, and the fact that he’s still only 21 means he’ll only get better in the coming years.
