£24m player could end up staying at West Ham, he is currently in talks to leave

Fornals #Fornals

Pablo Fornals could reportedly stay at West Ham this January despite rumours that Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis are interested in the Spaniard.

The 27-year-old playmaker’s future in east London has been up in the air for some time, with West Ham clearly looking to move on from the likes of Fornals this month.

With Said Benrahma reportedly in talks to join Olympique Lyonnais, it’s all change in the wing department for the Irons, especially if Fornals was also set to leave West Ham.

However, according to the Mirror, the playmaker could now stay put in the Premier League, with West Ham only willing to sell Fornals to Betis for the right price.

As per the report, the Irons are open to a loan or permanent transfer for Fornals, yet the finances of the deal have to be right if West Ham are to let the 27-year-old leave in the coming days.

Indeed, Pellegrini is clearly a big fan of Fornals having originally signing the winger for the east London side back in 2019 for £24m, yet the Chilean manager could now miss out on his man this January.

MORE WEST HAM UNITED STORIES

Fornals clearly has a special place in West Ham’s modern, with the attacking midfielder playing a key role in the Hammers’ journey to last season’s UEFA Europa Conference League triumph.

However, it’s obvious now that both Fornals and West Ham could benefit from a split, and a move to La Liga to reunite with Pellegrini could be ideal for the Spanish international.

The 2024 Euros this summer will be a big motivator for Fornals to play regular football for the remainder of the season, and this simply won’t happen if the playmaker remains in England.

As a result, Fornals himself should be seeking a return to Spain, where the former Villarreal star could become a regular under Pellegrini once again at Betis
