2021 Masters Sunday odds: Surprising PGA picks, predictions from model that nailed six majors

Sunday marks the fourth and final round of the 2021 Masters. Hideki Matsuyama fired a tournament-low 65 on Saturday to surge into the Masters 2021 lead by four strokes over Will Zalatoris, Marc Leishman, Justin Rose, and Xander Schauffele, all of whom sit at seven-under. Matsuyama barreled through the back nine, recording four birdies and an eagle on 15 to claim the lead. The 2021 Masters tee times show Matsuyama and Schauffele heading to the first hole at 2:40 p.m. ET for the tournament’s final group on Sunday. The latest 2021 Masters odds for Sunday from William Hill Sportsbook list Matsuyama as the 5/6 favorite to wear the green jacket. Schauffele is 5-1, while Rose (9-1) is the only other golfer on the PGA odds board getting single-digits heading into Sunday. SportsLine’s prediction model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been on fire since the return of the PGA Tour in June. In fact, it’s up almost $10,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

Last month at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, McClure nailed Daniel Berger’s win at +1400 in his best bets. McClure was also all over Viktor Hovland’s (+2500) victory in the Mayakoba Golf Classic in December. That was one of many huge calls he’s made in the past few months.

After nailing Sergio Garcia (+5500) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the Sanderson Farms Championship, McClure finished up over $6,200 yet again on his best bets in that tournament. The model had him in the top five from the start and McClure’s best bets included Garcia winning outright. He also finished profitable at the U.S. Open, nailing two of his best bets, including a +1100 top-five bet on Matthew Wolff.

Top 2021 Masters predictions 

One huge shocker the model is calling for at the Masters 2021: Leishman, who is in the group tied for second after shooting a 70 on Saturday, stumbles and finishes well outside the top five. The 37-year-old Australian has only finished better than ninth place one time at the Masters, and that came back in 2013 when he finished fourth. He also shot a 75 in the fourth round of the 2019 Masters, the last time it was played at its traditional time. 

Leishman also hasn’t played particularly well this year. He’s missed the cut in two of his last three events. He also has just one top-10 finish, a fourth-place at the Sony Open in January, this year. McClure’s model indicates there are far better values among players near the top of the 2021 Masters leaderboard.

Another surprise: Corey Conners, a 22-1 long shot, makes a strong run at the title. He’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Conners sits at six-under entering the final day of the Masters 2021 and will tee off at 2:20 p.m. ET alongside Zalatoris. Conners fired a 68 on Saturday to remain in contention, carding a birdie on three of the first seven holes. He also drained a hole in one on the par-three sixth.

Conners is in the top 10 on the PGA Tour in driving accuracy percentage at 69.65 and is 11th in greens in regulation percentage at 71.40. His scoring average of 70.107 is 18th. Conners cracked the top 10 in the last month at the Players Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational.
