What’s more jaw dropping than a career-best 463-foot home run? A 466-foot drive two days later.
Juan Soto surpassed his personal mark when he crushed an 89.7 mph slider off Mets starting right-hander Robert Gsellman to the Coca-Cola Corner of Citi Field in the first inning on Wednesday night.
With Trea Turner and Adam Eaton reaching base in the first two at-bats of the game, Soto’s home run gave the Nats an early 3-0 lead.
The monster homer was the fifth-longest tracked by Statcast from a Nationals player since 2015, and its 112.9 mph exit velocity is the fourth-hardest hit by a player for the club.
Pummeling home runs has become second nature for the 21-year-old — he’s already up to 59 in his career.
“You don’t even feel it,” Soto said after Monday’s homer. “You just see the ball jumping off the bat and don’t feel anything.”
