14 people shot as bullets ring out on Philadelphia’s South Street

Another mass shooting took place in the United States over the weekend, this time it was on Philadelphia’s bustling South Street. In all, 14 people were struck by bullets. Three of them are dead and 11 injured.

According to WPVI, the shooting occurred just before midnight Saturday evening. Police were patrolling the area and responded when they heard the bullets ring out.

Police believe there were multiple gunmen and that one of the officers fired his own weapon at a suspect. It is unclear if that suspect was struck, or if anyone else was.

Two guns were recovered at the scene, but no suspects have been arrested.

Two men and a woman were announced as the two deceased victims. Their names have not been released.

South Street is a popular area on weekends with a number of bars and other attractions that draws large crowds.

Police say they are now combing through surveillance video.
