13-year-old boy among 4 charged in teen’s death in Portsmouth

Police arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with the fatal shooting of a teen in Portsmouth — making him the fourth person facing murder charges related to the death.
The minor, whose name has not been released, is the youngest of three juveniles charged in the Dec. 21 shooting, according to Portsmouth police. An 18-year-old woman is also charged.

The 13-year-old boy is charged with aggravated murder, robbery resulting in death, conspiracy to commit robbery, two counts of shooting in the commission of a felony, two counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony and underage possession of a firearm, Portsmouth police said Friday in a news release.
The 17-year-old victim was found in the 100 block of Sykes Avenue, about a half mile south of Portsmouth City Park, following a report of shots fired. A 17-year-old boy was arrested the same day on charges including aggravated murder and robbery. Portsmouth police announced Friday that new charges have been filed against the 17-year-old, including auto grand larceny and making false statements to police.

The second suspect arrested in the homicide investigation was a 16-year-old boy, who faces charges including aggravated murder and armed robbery. The arrest of the minor, whose name also has not been released, was announced Dec. 30.
The only adult charged in connection with the incident is 18-year-old Analwah K. Jones, who turned herself in to the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, according to Portsmouth police. She is being held without bond at the Portsmouth City Jail on nine criminal counts including aggravated murder and conspiracy for robbery.
Police have not released the names of the victim or the other suspects as they are all under the age of 18.
