Manipulating superheroes with his never-ending deals, Felix Faust is known for corrupting all the good things associated with the DC Universe and he doesn’t intend on stopping anytime soon. There are an array of things fans should know about this evil sorcerer, ranging from his origin story to how he managed to resurrect himself so many times.

10 The Origins

Felix Faust’s origin dates back to 5000 BC, when he went to the African Empire of Kor. He is very old and it’s not surprising to see a sorcerer live for so long. Felix had ulterior motives when he visited the African Empire as he battled with the then kind of Kor, Nommo.

Nommo was a wizard and he was the guardian of the mystic power called the Flame of Life. As expected, the DC Supervillain wanted to steal the Flame of Life but he was defeated by Nommo and sent to another dimension.

9 Dekan Drache

Sent to another dimension, Felix Faust was looking for ways to get out of the mess he found himself in. After years and years, finally, he was set free. In the 1920s, an aspiring young magician named Dekan Drache unintentionally stumbled upon something huge.

Somehow, he was able to find a way to the dimension where Faust was sent and he opened a portal through it. Faust, recognizing his chance, left his prison and killed Drache’s soul to assume his body.

8 Reduced Superpowers

Although Faust found himself a human body to roam on Earth, he still had one huge problem to take care of. After spending many years in an unknown dimension, the sorcerer found out that his superpowers have been drastically reduced and it’s fair to say that he didn’t take that well.

In a bid to regain them, Faust, inspired by a story, wanted to sell his soul to the demons piece by piece in exchange for supernatural powers that would make him stronger than before.

7 Showdown With Aquaman

Faust wanted his mystical powers back and to regain them, he wanted to meet the Demon Three; a group of siblings (demons), who once ruled the galaxy years ago. Contacting them wasn’t easy for Faust as he had to gather three ancient objects and read out a spell.

And as he began to read the spell, there was Aquaman who not only cut him off but was also able to distract him for long enough to get things back to normal.

6 Damning His Soul

As mentioned above, Faust traded parts of his soul with demons to acquire more mystical power and universal knowledge but after a while, his soul became so tarnished that no one was willing to have a piece of it.

He tried to trick Neron into giving him some power by offering him the pure soul of an innocent girl but alas, his move failed and landed him a punishment. Neron set loose the innocent girl’s vengeful soul after Felix.

5 The Connection To Elongated Man

An event called 52 brought Ralph Dibny aka Elongated Man into the scanner as he journeyed through various afterlife cultures looking for a desire if he made the right sacrifices.

There, he met Felix Faust and the sorcerer thought of trading Elongated Man’s soul to Neron in exchange for his freedom. All of this was happening at the Tower of Fate and as soon as Neron appeared, he killed Dibny thus trapping himself and Felix Faust in the Tower of Fate.

4 Escape By Black Adam

Finding himself trapped in the Tower of Fate, Faust was looking for ways to get out with Neron already escaped. Quite surprisingly, he was helped by Black Adam in this quest as his mystical powers arranged for Faust’s escape.

Black Adam wasn’t the only one who helped, though, as the revived Isis also had a role to play. Soon after getting out, Faust went back to his means of looking for souls to trade for new power. Red Tornado was his new target.

3 The Manipulation Of Black Alice

At one time, Faust met Cheetah to hand him some concealment spells before making his way to Talia al Ghul. His new target was Black Alice, who wanted to corrupt.

Faust offered Alice a lot of things, ranging from power to a spot in the Secret Society of Supervillains. He also offered to resurrect Black Alice’s mother and as soon as he mentioned this, Alice devised a plan to take Faust’s powers and resurrect her mother herself. Faust’s ingenious plans never seem to work, do they?

2 The Vast Superpowers

While Felix Faust isn’t considered to be that good of a fighter, his other superpowers compensate for his lack of hand-to-hand combat skills.

He is a telepath who can form psychic links, he can use illusion casting (the ability to create illusions that look real), and in the right environment, he can also resurrect the dead. There is a reason why Faust is considered one of the best sorcerers of his time. He knows exactly what to use at every given time.

1 The Books Of Magic

The New 52 gave Felix Faust a Differ appearance but the same old characteristics. He was being his old evil self as he faced off against the Justice League. Running a cult, Faust’s privacy was invaded by Doctor Mist leading to the latter’s capture.

Expectedly, Justice League swooped in and after getting rid of Faust, they came across a set of books in the sorcerer’s possession named The Books of Magic. The Books of Magic also have separate comic releases.
