Sam Allardyce took charge of his first game as Leeds boss and it couldn’t have got more difficult for the former England boss as his side travelled to Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola meanwhile made a few changes to his starting XI with Jack Grealish on the bench.

Despite those changes it wasn’t long before City were ahead as Ilkay Gündoğan found space on the edge of the area and placed his effort into the bottom corner.

City really should have doubled their lead soon after as Kevin De Bruyne laid in Erling Haaland but the Norway international somehow put it wide.

Gündoğan eventually did get their second just before the half hour mark as he finished with aplomb after more great work from Riyad Mahrez.

Into the second half and Haaland’s bad day in front of goal continued as he hit the bar with a header from four yards out.

Bournemouth v Chelsea

Scorers: Viña 20′; Gallagher 9′

Beleaguered Frank Lampard was looking to avoid another defeat as interim Chelsea boss with his side travelling to Bournemouth.

And it was the Blues who took the lead inside the opening 10 minutes as Conor Gallagher headed in past Neto after a late run into the area.

Just moments later however, the home side were ahead as Viña finished brilliantly from the edge of the area.

Into the second half and Noni Madueke was looking sharp for Chelsea down the right-hand side but was having no luck in the final third.

Tottenham v Crystal Palace

European football was on the line for Tottenham on Saturday as the north London side took on a resurgent Crystal Palace.

The first real chance came on the half hour mark as Joachim Anderson volleyed from close range but put his effort over the bar when it looked easier to score.

On the brink of half time however, Harry Kane scored the opener for Spurs as he headed in at the back post.

Wolves v Aston Villa

It was a midlands derby at Molineux as Wolves hosted Aston Villa with the visitors on the hunt for a place in Europe next season.

But it was the home side who took the lead as Toti Gomes headed in at the back post after Tyrone Mings failed to clear his lines.

Mings soon made up for that however as he whipped a ball across the box for Ollie Watkins to head in, but the English forward put it over the bar.

After the break there was a huge cheer from the away fans for the return of Diego Carlos, who made his first appearance since an ankle break back in August.
