St James’ Park erupted this evening as Newcastle defender Dan Burn slotted home a fantastic solo goal to put the Magpies in the lead against Leicester in the EFL Cup.

Blyth boy Burn grew up supporting Newcastle, and appears to be living his boyhood dreams by putting on the black and white shirt. The emotions were flowing for the former Brighton man after netting Newcastle’s go ahead strike.

All the more special that it came at the Gallowgate End too.

Should the result hold, the streaking Magpies will be headed to the EFL Cup semi-final for the first time since 1976.
